Role overview

Job description

Siemens Healthineers is hiring a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for its Molecular Imaging Research and Development team. The role develops, tests, integrates, and supports embedded software for motion control and safety-critical subsystems in SPECT molecular imaging cameras, working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining embedded software for motion control and safety-related subsystems within SPECT Molecular Imaging systems

Driving end-to-end embedded software development activities, including requirements definition, architecture, design, implementation, testing, integration, and ongoing product support

Developing and maintaining software requirements, architecture documentation, design specifications, and technical documentation

Developing, debugging, and optimizing embedded software using programming languages such as C, C++, or C#

Designing and supporting low-level hardware/software interfaces, device drivers, and communication protocols

Developing and implementing motion control functionality, motor tuning, safety mechanisms, and fail-safe error-handling capabilities

Ensuring software designs and implementations conform to applicable safety requirements, development processes, and established engineering standards

Performing unit testing, debugging, and verification activities to ensure software functionality, reliability, and quality

Supporting system-level integration, troubleshooting, and validation of embedded software within complex electromechanical systems

Utilizing hardware debugging and diagnostic tools, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, CAN analyzers, and other specialized instrumentation

Investigating and resolving software and hardware integration issues identified during development, laboratory testing, manufacturing, or field operation

Collaborating with electrical, mechanical, systems, and software engineering teams to evaluate system interactions, technical risks, and product performance

Participating in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, work estimation, technical discussions, and execution of assigned deliverables

Supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance software quality, development efficiency, and product reliability

Preferred

Experience developing embedded software for motion control systems, motor controllers, or complex electromechanical equipment

Familiarity with safety-critical firmware, fault detection, fail-safe mechanisms, and error-handling strategies

Experience with communication interfaces and protocols such as CAN, UART, I2C, or ADC-based hardware interfaces

Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, CAN sniffers, or similar debugging equipment

Experience with motor tuning, motion control algorithms, or real-time control systems

Familiarity with host emulation, diagnostic logging, and system-level troubleshooting

Experience developing software in an Agile or Scrum environment

Experience working in regulated product development environments, particularly medical devices
