Sr. Electrical Power/Control Systems Eng. (P.E.)

Kforce’s client is hiring a Senior Electrical Power/Control Systems Engineer to lead Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls projects for municipal and industrial facilities. The role covers design, power system studies, automation systems, and project execution from concept through commissioning.

Responsibilities

Select electrical equipment, instrumentation and controls required to monitor, operate and control mechanical, process and electrical systems (Power Distribution)

Develop power system studies, including short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, load flow and motor starting analysis

Develop the EI&C portion of P&IDs

Perform power distribution design, cable sizing, breaker sizing, conduit sizing, and control system design, etc

Produce logic diagrams, control narratives (sequence of operations) and wiring diagrams

Develop instrument indexes, I/O lists, and cable and conduit schedules

Design PLC and HMI network architecture, including Ethernet/IP, ControlNet and remote I/O

Develop control panel designs and select and specify instruments and control valves

Interpret and apply codes, standards, job procedures and project specifications, including NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, IEEE, ISA and UL 508A

Serve as Engineer of Record and seal state deliverables, maintaining documented responsible charge over all sealed work

Perform QA/QC and back-check reviews of design deliverables and verify that comments are incorporated prior to each issue

Oversee the work of the designers and engineers assigned to your projects and coordinate their design tasks and priorities

Provide construction-phase engineering support, including submittal and shop drawing review, RFI responses

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or similar degree

Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in good standing

Minimum of five (5) years of electrical design and/or instrumentation and controls design experience, including working application of the NEC (NFPA 70)

Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical design for the production of electrical and I&C design drawings is required

Working knowledge of at least one PLC or HMI/SCADA platform

Ability to read and interpret network architecture drawings, I/O diagrams and control schematics

Ability to lead electrical and I&C design and construction projects

Strong written and verbal communication and impromptu problem-solving skills

Water and wastewater experience

P.E.s from water/wastewater, data centers, industrial infrastructure, power and comparable sectors is preferred
