Senior Electrical Designer

Amentum is hiring a Senior Electrical Designer to perform electrical design for facilities and their electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems. The role includes developing models and construction drawings, designing building and outdoor lighting, and assisting with cost estimates and equipment summaries.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Electrical Designer, you will perform a variety of electrical design functions

This includes development of facility models and construction drawings for electrical systems such as plans, one-line diagrams, control diagrams, interconnection diagrams, elevations and details, schedules and bills of materials; and drawings for instrumentation and controls systems such as: system architecture, ladder diagrams, input/output diagrams, and instrument data sheets

This also includes complete design of lighting systems for buildings and outdoor areas

Lighting design includes fixture selection, model calculations which will determine lighting level for normal and emergency lighting situations

Activities could include assistance with cost estimating and equipment summary for bills of materials

Employees who reside within 50 miles of Oak Ridge will be expected to work from the Oak Ridge office. Employees who live more than 50 miles away are eligible for a remote work arrangement; however, remote employees must travel to the Oak Ridge office on a quarterly basis. Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or an Associate's degree in engineering from an accredited certified institution

15 or more years of electrical engineering design experience

Construction support experience for Title 3 activities

Experience in providing construction support or services during construction is required

Sole US citizenship required (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)

Short Circuit Analysis experience

Working knowledge of the NEC

Knowledge of broad range of electrical systems is required, including power system design, substation design, fire alarm design, lighting design, load flow studies, communications design, grounding design and equipment selection

Ability to independently produce construction documentation using 2-D and 3-D applications (Smartplant or Revit) is required
