Engineer, Backend

Responsibilities

Architect and build robust, scalable services from the ground up

Own service security, performance, and scalability end to end

Work across our technology stack, including Golang, Python, Node, AWS infrastructure, Neo4j, and more

Partner closely with other engineers, product management, marketing, and customers

Drive architectural decisions and system design, weighing in on trade-offs with limited precedent to draw on

Shape the future of data security as part of the core creative process

Identify complex challenges and propose and implement novel solutions, with minimal oversight

Provide technical guidance and code review feedback to other engineers

Help establish and improve engineering practices, standards, and tooling as the team scales

Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies

Adapt quickly to changing requirements and business needs

Preferred

Bonus: experience mentoring other engineers or leading small technical initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field

4+ years of professional experience as a backend engineer, ideally including some time in a security-related domain

Demonstrated track record of independently designing, building, and owning production services from concept through deployment

Proficiency with backend technologies and databases relevant to our stack (e.g., Golang, Python, Node, SQL, Neo4j)

Experience contributing to architectural and system design decisions, not just implementation

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal guidance

Entrepreneurial mindset, comfort with ambiguity, and a willingness to take ownership beyond your immediate scope

Bonus: experience mentoring other engineers or leading small technical initiatives
